First Ever Cycleathon a Success

On 22 Jan 2017, the Foundation, in cooperation with the Josephian Association, held its first ever cycleathon. The event is the first to raise funds specifically for the new SJACS Activity Fund. We are happy to report that it was a big success.

On the day, the weather was fantastic. The event went on very smoothly with the help of instructors from CHUNG YUNG Cycle Co., Boy Scouts and Red Cross members from St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School (SJACS), and volunteer helpers.

Before beginning the ride, group pictures were taken, the ceremonial ribbon was cut, and commemorative flags were presented.

Principal Poon and Vice Principal Lam of SJACS led the group to kick off for a ride starting from University to Tai Po and back to University for a 2-hour,18-kilometer ride.

A thank you lunch was held right after the event was attended by Principal Poon, volunteer helpers, and various participants.

In summary, there were 37 participants, including 12 students supported by parents, 10 students supported by SJACS alumni, and 10 SJACS alumni.

All in all, $71,185 was raised in this event.

Principal Poon of SJACS, considered the event a success, and was open to holding it again next year.

We would like to thank SJACS, CHUNG YUNG Cycle Co., the Josephian Association, all the volunteer helpers, the participants, and lastly but most importantly, all those donors who had generously supported this event.

About the SJACS Activity Fund

The new SJACS Activity Fund, in support of which this event was held, is meaningful for the SJACS family as a whole, and especially for young Josephians.

With the new fund, the Foundation can support further development of SJACS on a larger scale and on longer term basis. We welcome applications from the School for the good use of the fund.

We hope with the staunch support and active participation of our generous donors and SJACS alumni, we can do more for our alma mater.
